Co-founder and CEO Ben Stagg questioned the effectiveness of tornado warning systems after his father was in Joplin, Missouri in 2011, when tornadoes hit the area and killed nearly 160 people. It was created in 2012 after a brush with tragedy. The disaster gave him the idea of using technology to increase human safety.
