Visual support for medical devices

Visual support for medical devices

Visual Support for Medical Devices Can be a Game-Changer

As a Type-1 Diabetic, I have faced many medical challenges and obstacles in the past 20 years. About a year ago, I had an extremely frustrating experience with my insulin pump.  Nobody proving the medical device support could seem to figure out what the issue was. I went weeks without having a consistently functioning device, which caused high blood sugar and daily illness. I was forced to give myself shots 5-10 times per day and deal with sporadic lows when the pump would kick back in. Every phone call was the same. Having no visual guidance or support. every conversation started with a long list of troubleshooting questions, which was frustrating enough, especially when there was no way for the agent to confirm if anything I was saying was accurate or if I was even viewing the correct screen on the pump. Repeatedly, we would reach the end of the list of questions and I would hear a long silent pause, and then “It should be working ma’am.” But it wasn’t. Eventually, they shipped me a new device since they had not been able to resolve the issues. The whole process got me thinking “How could this experience have been less painful?” literally, and figuratively.

Medical devices, like insulin pumps, have revolutionized healthcare in recent years, providing physicians and patients with advanced tools to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medical conditions. However, medical devices are complex and require specialized expertise to operate and maintain. As a result, medical device manufacturers and healthcare providers are increasingly turning to visual support platforms like TechSee to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.

What is TechSee and How Does it Work?

TechSee is a remote visual assistance platform that allows healthcare providers and patients to connect with medical device manufacturers and technical support teams through a smartphone or tablet. The platform uses augmented reality and machine learning technologies to provide real-time visual guidance and support, enabling medical device users to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently. Visual support through TechSee has numerous benefits in the medical device space, including improved patient outcomes, reduced downtime, and increased efficiency.

Improve Patient Outcomes

Medical devices play a critical role in patient care, providing physicians with the tools they need to diagnose and treat medical conditions. However, when medical devices malfunction or fail, patient outcomes can be severely impacted. For example, a patient may experience complications during surgery if a medical device fails, or they may receive inaccurate test results if a diagnostic device is not functioning properly.

Visual support through TechSee can help prevent these scenarios by enabling medical device users to quickly and accurately diagnose and resolve technical issues. With real-time visual guidance, users can identify and fix problems faster, reducing the risk of complications and improving patient outcomes.

Reduce Downtime

When medical devices malfunction or fail, downtime can be costly and disruptive. Patients may experience delays in treatment or diagnosis, and healthcare providers may need to cancel appointments or reschedule procedures.

Visual support through TechSee can help reduce downtime by enabling medical device users to remotely diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently. With real-time visual guidance, users can identify and fix problems faster, reducing the need for downtime and minimizing the impact on patient care.

Increase Efficiency

Medical device manufacturers and healthcare providers are under increasing pressure to deliver high-quality care efficiently and cost-effectively. Visual support through TechSee can help achieve these goals by enabling medical device users to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently, without the need for onsite support.

With real-time visual guidance, medical device users can troubleshoot problems independently, reducing the need for costly onsite visits from technical support teams. This not only saves time and money but also increases efficiency and improves the overall quality of care.

Real-world Examples of Visual Support in the Medical Device Space

Visual support through TechSee is already being used by leading medical device manufacturers and healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care. Here are some real-world examples of how visual support is being used in the medical device space:

  1.  Philips Healthcare: Philips Healthcare is using TechSee to provide remote support for its ultrasound equipment. With real-time visual guidance, medical professionals can diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently, reducing the need for costly onsite visits and minimizing downtime.
  2. Medtronic: Medtronic, a leading medical device manufacturer, is using TechSee to provide remote support for its insulin pumps. With real-time visual guidance, patients can troubleshoot problems with their pumps independently, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming onsite visits.
  3. WakeMed Health & Hospitals: WakeMed Health & Hospitals is using TechSee to provide remote support for its patient monitoring equipment. With real-time visual guidance, healthcare professionals can quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues, reducing downtime and improving patient outcomes.
  4. Cochlear: Cochlear is the world’s largest manufacturer of implantable hearing solutions. They are committed to the mission of helping people hear and be heard. Using TechSee, Cochlear’s device support team is able to remotely connect with their recipients and provide support on equipment maintenance, assist in setting up devices, and help with any troubleshooting.

Adding visual service to medical device support can result in cost savings, reduced downtime, and an improved customer experience. Companies like TechSee have the potential to revolutionize the medical device space, providing medical device users with real-time visual guidance and support that can improve patient outcomes, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency. As medical devices become more complex and specialized, and users become increasingly demanding better support, visual guidance will be critical.

Our hope is that no user of a medical device, whether it be an insulin pump, a hearing aid, or a blood pressure monitor, will have to endure the stress and anxiety I faced when I had issues.
