IT Security Isn’t Easy

Providing IT security might be the one thing that’s more difficult than providing physical security – there’s more threat actors, the threat landscape is always increasing and the consequences of having a breach are enormous – from losing millions of dollars in minutes to damaging your company’s brand to ending your career as a security professional.

As corporate networks grow more complex, having the right firewalls in place is crucial. As organizations move to a hybrid work model – securing endpoints so remote workers don’t get hacked has become even more important. And as IT evolves and IT managers and DevOps teams scale workloads and automate workflows so they can push more services to more users more rapidly – new threat vectors keep coming into play and lots of manual work is needed to hunt for vulnerabilities and prevent breaches.

And with apps driving today’s best consumer experiences, SecOp teams now have to move at the same speed that their DevOps counterparts do in the application development lifecycle. But Cisco has a comprehensive IT security tool set that includes securing applications.

Network Security

For network security, there’s Cisco Secure Firewall that gives you visibility and control of your encrypted traffic and application environments. There’s also Cisco Secure Network Analytics that detects threats designed to bypass your existing controls.

User and Endpoint Security

Cisco also has a set of tools to secure users and the endpoints they use to do their work. For instance, Cisco Secure Email is used by companies working on confidential projects that absolutely need to keep their email communications secure. Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Duo multifactor authentication provide a layer of protection for users connecting to corporate networks while Cisco Secure Endpoint provides advanced threat detection and response capabilities as is even available as a managed service.

Cloud Security

For cloud security, there’s Cisco Secure Workload that protects workloads across clouds and applications based on application behavior and telemetry. And our newest addition to the toolset is for cloud-native  application development. It’s the Panoptica Cloud Security solution. Panoptica is part of Cisco’s Cloud Application portfolio. It’s an integrated, comprehensive security platform  that provides comprehensive cloud-native application protection from development thought runtime. It provides a consolidated security posture view to secure  your Kubernetes, serverless, containers and API  environments – enabling you to shift left and join the world of DevSecOps.

As new security challenges arise, there will always be boutique vendors handing small pieces of the security puzzle. But Cisco strives to make things easy for those working in SecOps with a best-in-class comprehensive package of tools to help them do their jobs, do them well, save time doing, and keep them by always staying one step ahead of threat actors.
